Step 1
Applying for VA benefits is fairly simple, if you have prior service you can qualify for certain types of benefits, some of these benefits may be service related or not. depending on your prior service dates and how long you spent in wartime or if you spent anytime in wartime affects qualifications.
-
Step 2
To apply visit your local VA office, they basically offer different types of benefits, from mental help to cash benefits for service related injuries or impairments. The VA is usually pretty busy, there are alot of veterans who come out of the service seeking help from job assistance to mental health help to other financial help to get back on their feet. The VA can be a great saftey net for veterans, if you do get accepted and need some kind of assistance they will request a consult for special needs you need, all medications can be gotten through the VA and the co pay is pretty cheap.
-
Step 3
Go to www.va.com to find out more. be aware that once you get in the VA system it is hard to get out, fi you are seeking mental health help it can seem like a revolving door but the services are there. The military is constantly discharging and there are always patients in need. Be care ful of falling into any traps but if you need immediate help they are there for you as well as a great medication refill plan.

on 8/29/2009 My husband got both his feet frost bitten when he was in the army and was in the hospital for 2 weeks with it. Every since this has happened his feet crack, bust, bleed really bad alot. His shoes even hurt his feet. He has been to the doctor several times, the medicine does help some but it always comes back. He has filed for benefits before several times and they just keep giving him the run around. He has ask for their doctors to look at him also, but they say he makes to much money. We sometimes barely get by and they say this, this is just not right. He served in the military for 6 years and they do him like this. If you can advise us on what else he can do please do so. He really needs something done. thanks for all your help already. 5*
