How to Opt Out of TransUnion
At one time or another, you'll receive prescreen offers from financial institutions and insurance companies that notify you of a number of opportunities enticing you to make a purchase. Many people don't want to receive these offers. Your information is sold by TransUnion to a number of financial institutions, which is how you start receiving the solicitation offers. There are a number of things you can do to opt out of the pre-screen mailings.

Go online to http://www.outoutprescreen.com and click the button that says, "Click here to opt-in or opt out." You have the choice to opt out of offers for five years, or permanently. There is a button to click for each choice.

Click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the screen. Key in your personal information such as name, address, social security number, date of birth and phone number. Make sure you include Jr., or Sr. or III, if appropriate, with your name.

Call TransUnion at 888-5OPTOUT (888-567-8688). The voice recorder will prompt you to select 1 if you speak English. Then you will be prompted to press 1 to remove your name for five years or press 3 to permanently remove your name.

Send a letter to TransUnion Name Removal Option at P.O. Box 505 Woodlyn, PA . 19094. Include your name and current address with your written request.

Include your previous address if you have been at your current address for six months or less. To ensure your request is processed, include your social security number, date of birth and your signature with your written request.
