How to Plan a Meal Using Nutrition Software

Nutrition software is a popular dieting tool that helps calculate the amount of calories you should eat a day matched with your weight. With most nutrition software you can also track and graph your body fat content, and some software creates recipes for meals that you can print out. All nutrition software has different features. For example, some nutrition software is specific for those who have diabetes.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine how many calories you eat a day. Enter you height, weight and all other pertinent information for the software to determine your daily calorie intake. Some software also has different diet plans from which to choose.

    • 2

Choose preferences for your diet. If you are allergic to a particular item or type of food, exclude it from your preferences. This will ensure that you're able to plan meals that meet the criteria for your diet and that you also will want to eat.

    • 3

Enter the recipes or meals that you like to eat. For example, if you eat salad with certain toppings, include it all. You must also include meals that are foods you eat on a regular basis and will be including in the software's database.

    • 4

Create your own meals to meet your diet plan. For example, for breakfast the software may indicate that you can have 400 calorie. You need to choose from the meals that meet the plan's criteria. The same applies for lunch, dinner and snacks. Most software also includes the option for you to let the software decide the meals you should have from your preferences and the ones you've entered into the database.

    • 5

Create a plan in advance by mix and matching you meals and preferences. The nutrition software typically allows you to create plans for weeks and even months in advance. This way you can set a goal of how much weight you want to lose in a given period.
