Lansinoh HPA Lanolin is a moisturizer designed to soothe nipples that are sore from breastfeeding. The cream can also be used on the entire breast or other dry skin areas. Lansinoh is made out of 100 percent pure lanolin, making it safe to leave on the nipples during breastfeeding.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wash hands with soap and water. Dry hands with a clean towel.

  2. Step 2

Squeeze a pea-size amount of Lansinoh onto your index finger.

  3. Step 3

Massage Lansinoh gently onto both nipples. Apply the cream before and after breastfeeding, before and after showering, before and after swimming and whenever the nipples are irritated or dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some women begin applying Lansinoh to their nipples during the third trimester of pregnancy to condition the nipples in preparation for breastfeeding.
  • Lansinoh Laboratories, the company that markets Lansinoh HPA Lanolin, uses a modified form of lanolin in the product, which they claim makes the product safe for use in people who are normally allergic to lanolin. Despite these claims, the Environmental Working Group lists Lansinoh as a possible allergic irritant because it contains lanolin. It gives the cream an allergic irritant rating of 1 out of 10 (1 being of the least concern).
