How Can a You Unlock a Cell Phone?

Cell phones offer "lock" and "unlock" options for a few reasons. One of these reasons is if you have a "candy bar" type phone, meaning a phone that is not a flip phone and in essence is shaped like a candy bar, it is very easy to press keys and accidentally call someone. Also, the lock option gives a cell phone privacy. Some phones require a code to unlock them, while others do not. You can choose the code when locking your phone if your phone has that feature. Some phones also are locked by default. For example, an LG UX260 has a keyguard and is locked when the phone is inactive.

Instructions

    • 1

Press any key on your LG UX260. This lights up the phone and brings up your screen to access the unlock feature.

    • 2

Press the key underneath the screen that says "unlock." No other key can be used for this step.

    • 3

Press the "OK" key as instructed on the screen. If you wait too long, it times out. If this happens, press any key to light up the phone, and then press unlock again. You now have access to your phone.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the unlock function begins to become a nuisance, you can turn it off under "Menu," "Settings," "Keyguard Timer" and choose "Always Off."

  • If you choose a lock code, be sure to remember your code. If you forget it, you could be locked out of your phone.
