How to Make a Slide Show With Pictures and Sound

Slide shows are an extremely useful way of presenting information to others, whether it be peers, friends, family or associates. Microsoft PowerPoint is the most commonly used slide-show computer software. This is due to the program's ability to create slides containing not only text, but images and sounds as well. The images and sounds can not only be informative, but can help captivate an audience's attention.

Instructions

  1. Insert Image

    • 1

      Open Microsoft PowerPoint.

    • 2

Load the desired presentation by clicking "File," choosing "Open," and then selecting the desired file. If you are starting from scratch, use the new presentation on the screen.

    • 3

Click "Insert" on the top menu.

    • 4

Select "Pictures." It is about halfway down the "Insert" pull-down menu.

    • 5

Navigate to the image you want to insert, then click "Insert." The image will now appear on the current slide. If you like you can move the image around by clicking it and dragging it. If you want to re-size the image, hold down "Shift" and click the edge of the image, then drag it in or out, depending if you want the image to be larger or smaller. Holding down "Shift" keeps the dimensions the same.

    Insert Sound

    • 6

      Click "Insert."

    • 7

Select "Sound and Music." It can be found toward the bottom of the pull-down menu.

    • 8

      Click "From File."

    • 9

Navigate to the desired sound you want to upload, then click "Insert." If you want a song from a CD, click "Play CD Audio Track" instead of "From File." From here you can decide on the amount of time you'd like the song to play and where the starting point should be.

    • 10

Decide if you want the audio to start "automatically" (when the slide appears), or "when clicked." The song will now be placed onto the slide.
