How to Change the Active Diablo 2 CD Key
Diablo 2 is a fantasy role-playing game developed by Blizzard North. It was published for the Windows and Mac formats by Blizzard Entertainment in June 2000. The game features an extensive multi-player component and advanced character creation. To access any in-game content, players must have installed the game with a working CD key, which can only safely be changed through reinstallation.
Instructions

1
Access your computer's Control Panel and select "Add/Remove Software". Select "Diablo 2" and uninstall the game. Save your character profiles if you are interested in continuing from where you left off.
-
2
Insert the "Diablo 2" game disc and wait for the auto-play screen to appear. If it does not, access the "Diablo 2" disc through the my computer menu. Choose to install "Diablo II".
-
-
3
Correctly type the new CD key into the on-screen prompt that appears. Each CD key should only be used once, and your CD key should be kept private at all times.
-
4
Allow Diablo 2 to finish installing. Do not eject the disc or shut off the computer at this time. When the installation is complete, move your saved characters into the new folder if you wish to resume play with them.
-
5
Keep your CD keys somewhere safe. You will need to buy a new CD key if you use them, and in that case, you must re-install the game.

Programs are available online that can change your CD key without the need to re-install, but these programs are not made by Blizzard, and should be treated cautiously at best.
