People the world over enjoy eating fish prepared in many different ways. One way is wrapped in paper and cooked in the oven. Fish cooked this way is steamed in its own juices in a sealed paper packet. When you cook fish in paper, your family will think they are opening up a delicious present at the dinner table.   • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 onion
  • 1 bell pepper
  • Sharp knife
  • 4 fish fillets
  • Paper towels
  • Parchment paper
  • Butter
  • Olive oil
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. black pepper
  • Lemon
  • Cookie sheet

  1. How to Cook Fish in Paper

    • 1

      Peel the garlic and onion and core the bell pepper. Slice the onion and the bell pepper into thin pieces. Mince the garlic.

      Rinse the fish fillets in cold water and dry with paper towels. Cut four sheets of parchment paper double the size of the fillets. Fold the sheets of paper in half.

      Rub butter on both halves of each sheet of parchment paper. Place one fillet on one side of each piece of paper. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

      Pour ½ tsp. olive oil on top of each fillet and lightly rub it in. Sprinkle ½ tsp. salt and pepper over each piece of fish.

      Sprinkle the minced garlic on top of the seasoned fillets. Lay the onion and bell pepper slices on the paper around the fish.

      Cut the lemon into eight slices and lay one slice on either end of each fillet. Pull each corner of the parchment paper over the fish. Bring the top and bottom edges of the paper together and fold inward until you have the fish tightly wrapped.

      Place the four paper envelopes on the cookie sheet and bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Take the envelopes off the pan and place on plates. Unwrap the paper and enjoy your fish.
