Weddings are special occasions, from walking down the aisle to the end of the reception. One way to add a personal touch to your wedding that doesn't cost a bundle is to have homemade mints. The mints can be made to complement your wedding color scheme or left white. Simple and quick to make, these minty treats will not only taste delicious but also make a tasty reception gift for guests to take home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 16 oz. cream cheese
  • Large bowl
  • ½ tsp. peppermint flavoring
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • Spoon
  • Food coloring
  • Parchment paper
  • Air-tight container
  1. Step 1

Place the unwrapped cream cheese in a microwave safe bowl or plate and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. This will help to soften the cream cheese quickly.

  2. Step 2

Place the softened cream cheese in a large bowl. Add the peppermint flavoring and 1 cup of the powdered sugar to the cream cheese. Stir until the cheese and sugar are completely mixed.

  3. Step 3

Add the remaining powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Mix the sugar in completely after each addition. Add more of the peppermint flavoring if the taste isn't strong enough.

  4. Step 4

Divide the mixture and place in bowls, according to how many different colors you want the wedding mints to be. Add 3 drops of food coloring in the colors you picked and mix until completely blended. Add more food dye if you want a deeper color.

  5. Step 5

Take a small piece of the mint mixture and roll into a ball the size of a marble. Press your thumb on the ball to flatten it into a disk. You can also just leave the mints shaped like a marble.

  6. Step 6

Put each of the mints on the parchment paper and let dry for one or two hours. These mints will stay soft. Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator or freezer until needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Candy molds can be used when making homemade wedding mints. For a different taste, add a fruit flavor to go with the peppermint.
