Things You'll Need:
- Cuisinart coffee maker
- Dish soap
- Water
- Cloth
- White vinegar
-
Step 1
Turn off the coffeemaker and unplug it. Remove the paper filter and ground coffee, if necessary; then wash the filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse it thoroughly.
-
Step 2
Wipe the area under the filter basket with a damp cloth. Wash the carafe and lid in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly; then wipe the heating plate with a damp cloth. Wipe the coffeemaker base with a damp cloth.
-
Step 3
Remove calcium deposits on the metal parts of the coffeemaker (decalcifying) when the Clean light begins flashing on your coffeemaker. Fill the water reservoir to the top with 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water; then press "Clean." When the self clean light is glowing, turn the coffee maker on. Press the "On/Off" button.
-
Step 4
Allow the coffeemaker to self clean through one cycle. The coffeemaker may beep and shut off when the cycle is complete. If, when you turn the coffeemaker back on, the Clean light flashes again, decalcify again with a fresh mixture of vinegar and water until the light stops flashing. Finish the decalcification process by running one cycle of fresh, cold water through the unit (without ground coffee beans).
