1
Place a few drops of rubbing alcohol into the ear. Rubbing alcohol will help evaporate moisture in the ear canal, as well as loosen ear wax that may be built up. Let the alcohol sit in the ear for an hour.

2
Use a hot towel to lay under your ear as you tilt your head to the side. The steam from the towel will help pull out any loosened wax from the ear. Wipe gently inside the ear with the towel to clear away any wax that drains out.

Place a few drops of tea tree oil in the affected ear overnight. Tea tree oil will naturally break up and dislodge ear wax, as well as soothe the ear canal.

4
Use an ear syringe to gently suction out any clumps of ear wax or other buildup inside the ear. If this relieves the plugged feeling in your ear, then you know it worked.

Visit your doctor If the plugged feeling does not go away after this treatment; the plug may be too solid and too deep in the ear canal for you to treat yourself.
