Remove the plastic or pot from the roots of the rose. Remove the soil and spread the roots out. Place the rose bush in the hole with the roots spread out around the cone of dirt in the bottom of the hole. Adjust as necessary to ensure the base of the rose bush is at ground level. Replace the dirt and tamp down firmly. Water well.

Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Fertilize the plants once a month with liquid rose food according to package directions.
-
4
Pinch off any dead blooms to encourage new growth.
-
5
Prune the rose bush after the first frost when the rose bush goes dormant. Snip off any damaged or unsightly stems. Snip the stems at an angle so the stem won't die. In the spring, new growth will start from the spot that was pruned, causing the plant to become thicker and bushier.
