How to Learn Pranic Healing

The aura and chakras

Prana, in Sanskrit, means breath, referring to life force or energy. Advocates of pranic healing believe that an energy shield, also called aura, surrounds the body. The different colors of this subtle shield are believed to reflect the individual's physical, emotional and spiritual state. In pranic healing, energy is transferred from the healer to the patient in an effort to balance the seven chakras, or energy centers, of the body and improve the health of the patient.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign up for a course in pranic or energy healing at a holistic or alternative medicine school near you (see Resources). There are also courses available online. Pranic healing, in its contemporary form, is an easily accessible technique and was developed by Master Choa Kok Sui, whose global centers teach the trademarked MCKS Pranic Healing method (see Resources).

Fill yourself with prana in preparation for your classes. In pranic healing, you will use your body to channel prana into a person who requires healing. To increase your prana, walk in a sun-lit area surrounded by old, leafy trees and water. If you can, walk barefoot in the sand/soil/mud. Believers in pranic healing say your feet absorb prana from the earth. You can also place your palms for a few minutes on the trunk of an old tree to absorb some of its rich life force.

Clear your mind of its usual clutter. Sit cross-legged on a mat or in a chair with your feet planted on the floor and breathe deeply for a few minutes while observing your breath. Close your eyes, palms facing upward on your lap, and project loving kindness to your family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, pets, adversaries and the entire universe. Visualize a light pink or white light emitting from you, out into the universe.

Sensitize your palms. Rub the center of your palms vigorously with your thumb. Now, place your palms facing each other (a few inches apart), moving your hands toward and away from each other. If you feel heat, a pull or force-you are feeling your own energy or prana.
