The most popular ficus tree is known as the Ficus Benjamin, also known as the weeping fig tree. This indoor tree needs some special considerations in care to grow a healthy and beautiful tree. The trees are a little sensitive and have what we call mood swings. The mood changes occur when the tree does not receive the proper care or there is an environmental change. Once you place the tree in the ideal location, it should stay there and be cared for according to the steps as follows.

From Quick Guide: Ficus Tree Care Guide
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fertilizer (Miracle Grow)
  • Mister
  • Humidity tray (optional)
  1. Step 1

Insert your finger into the soil to test for wetness before watering. Over watering can cause the leaves to turn brown. If the soil is wet or moist a few inches into the soil, do not water. If the soil feels dry a few inches down, the tree can be watered. If you notice that the leaves are starting to turn a yellowish color, stop watering, because the ficus tree has enough water and the soil needs to dry.

  2. Step 2

Use a mister to mist the leaves of the ficus tree at least twice a day. Humidity is very important when growing this tree, and normal house humidity is not enough. You can use a humidity tray filled with gravel under the planter filled with water to supply humidity if you don't want to mist the plant leaves a few times daily.

  3. Step 3

Place the ficus tree in a location with indirect sunlight, but in a location where it will have filtered light. Keep out of drafty places.

  4. Step 4

Give the tree fertilizer during the growing season every month. Do not give the tree any fertilizer during winter months.
