How to Use a PSX Emulator

Emulators can be nifty tools if the hardware and software are up to par. While the PlayStation is an old video game console at this point, it was not until years after its prime when emulation of the console became feasible and worked well. Now, there are plenty of emulators available for the PSX and they all work exceptionally well.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install ePSXe 1.7.0 or higher. Launch ePSXe. Select "Config" and click "Wizard Guide." Follow the on-screen directions to customize your emulator settings.

    • 2

Select "Config" and go to Game Pad. Connect your USB video game controller (if any) into your computer. ePSXe will automatically assign it to Port 1.

    • 3

Insert a PlayStation CD-ROM into your disk drive. If you configured ePSXe to run Auto Run, the emulator will load the game automatically. If not, select "File" and click "Run CD-ROM." Click "Run Iso" if you have the image file for the PSX game on your hard drive. Locate the file and select it. This will run the game as normal.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure your computer detects the controller before you try to use it in ePSXe. There should be no problems.
