While duct tape has many uses, it can leave an irritating residue on clothing upon removal. Washing the item won't do much, so the residue will need to be tended to before clothes goes into the washing machine. WD-40 seems to have more uses than it can possibly list.   • Soft, clean cloth

      Spray the affected area with WD-40. Use enough to completely cover the area.

      Allow the WD-40 to sit on the adhesive for at least five minutes.

      Rub the area with a soft, clean cloth and the adhesive should come off easily. Repeat if necessary.

      Launder the garment immediately to remove the WD-40.

Tips & Warnings

  • Using an old toothbrush to remove the adhesive may be more effective if it's really stuck on there, but if the WD-40 soaks long enough it shouldn't be a problem.
