How to Link RSS Feeds to Personal Financial Websites
If you have a website on financial markets and don't want to go through the work of trolling through news sites to keep it updated with hourly shifts or daily closing numbers, you can use a simple tool called an RSS Feed to update it automatically. RSS stands for "real simple syndication," and it allows you to take content from another site such as Yahoo, CNN or MarketWatch and put it on your website for free.

Go to rssfeedreader.com. You will need to enter your name, e-mail address and website into the box and click on "Get RSS Feeds for Your Website." This will allow you to download a simple piece of software and code that you can add to your site.

Confirm your address and login. You will receive an e-mail a few minutes later that you will need to confirm. Then you will get a login ID and password. Go to the site and log in; there you will configure your RSS Feed. There are a number of feeds from which to choose -- including ones on stocks and other financial data -- from Yahoo, CNN and the Financial Times. Fill out the forms, scroll to the bottom and click on "Get RSS Feeds."

You will receive a line of code that you will need to put on your website in between the "Body Tags." Once you've done this, upload the page to your server and hit "Refresh." You should see the feed on your page. Once installed, this feed will automatically update with fresh content every 30 minutes to one hour, so you will always have fresh news without having to do a thing.
