Things You'll Need:
- Eraser Board
- Calendar
- Markers
-
Step 1
***DAILY REMINDERS***
Remind the dementia patient of the day, month, day and year. Write the date on a erasable board every morning. My mother-in-law is 96 years old and I do this with her. It really helps to keep her brain functions active. Use a children's calendar to highlight holidays and the weather.
Fight senile dementia with a daily routine that everyone can do. -
Step 2
***PRACTICE HANDWRITING***
Help the person with senile dementia to practice writing his or her name. Mom has difficulty writing her name, but we practice anyway. Again, use the eraser board to make writing multiple times very easy. Attach photographs of loved ones to remind the senile dementia sufferer of the past. -
Step 3
***REVIEW CURRENT EVENTS***
Watch television and listen to the radio in order to fight senile dementia naturally. When Mom first came to us, she did not know who was the President of the United States. Review current events on a daily basis in order to keep the person focused on the present and the future.
Try to make the person suffering with dementia comfortable and secure.
