Want to leave a tip that leaves an impression? Make this origami sampan style boat with two pieces of paper money.

The base boat fold is based on one I learned from a book years ago. I've changed is slightly to make it work with the shape of money. The house is from me goofing around.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two dollar bills or any rectangular paper money.
  1. Step 1

Fold the bill in half. Crease, then unfold.

  2. Step 2

Using the first crease as a guide fold the two sided to the middle.

  3. Step 3

Fold all four corners in lining up the edges with the center joint.

  4. Step 4

Fold the corners in again. Line up the edges with the middle joint again.

  5. Step 5

Fold in the corners one more time. Once again line up the edges with the middle line.

  6. Step 6

Fold the pointed edges in to meet at the center line.

  7. Step 7

Open up along the center line using both hands.

  8. Step 8

Carefully turn the whole thing inside out so the face is now on the under side of the boat.

  9. Step 9

To make the house, fold a second bill in half twice. Then bend it into the house shape. You'll probably need to crease it in two places. Now insert the ends into the side of the boat.

Tips & Warnings
  • The boat will float but doesn't handle waves well.
  • Load the boat with a cargo of coins.
  • The house comes off easily, so handle with care.
