Step 1
First do not feel bad that your teenager needs to get a job. Part time or summer jobs will teach your teens responsibility, money management and will give them the opportunity to gain valuable life experiences.
-
Step 2
Make sure that they want to get a job, it is important that they do not feel forced to work. Talk to them about the benefits of having a job and making there own money. Explore what their interests are, their qualities and what their previous experiences are. Ex. if they have experience baby sitting, maybe they like to cook, or if they have a love for fashion.
-
Step 3
Start looking in your local area for businesses or organizations looking for help, such as restaurants, schools, retail shops at the mall, animal shelters, parks and recreation centers, amusement parks
-
Step 4
This will require some leg work of your own to, so be prepared to drive you teen around to pass out resumes or fill out applications. You don't have to hold there hand so bring a magazine to keep your self occupied while your teen goes in and talks to the manager.

on 7/15/2009 Excellent points. Working as a teen teaches responsibility and assists with understanding the whole boss/employee relationship. Also allows for a taste of the real world before entering it. Experience makes all the difference. ~Mindee~
