How to Remove Under-Eye Circles

Despite popular myths, staying up late isn't always the cause of your dark eye circles. Those annoying dark circles are more likely caused by not drinking enough water or by vitamin deficiencies. The circles originate in tiny blood vessels that reside under your eyes. When the red blood cells "spill over," your body takes care of the issue but leaves something that looks like a bruise--dark circles. But simple home remedies can help you get rid of under-eye circles.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Multivitamin
  • Chamomile tea bags
  • Cucumbers
  • Water
  • Organic wheat germ
  1. Step 1

Stock up on vitamins. The way our skin looks is heavily influenced by vitamin consumption. For under-eye circles, make sure you're taking vitamin B, iron and vitamin E, all three of which are typically found in a multivitamin.

  2. Step 2

Use tea bags on your eyes. For a dark under-eye circle fix, heat up water and soak chamomile tea bags for a few minutes. Then, place the bags on your eyes, and lie down for about 20 minutes. This will not only minimize the appearance of under-eye circles, but it also reduces puffiness.

  3. Step 3

Pack your refrigerator with cucumbers. If you've ever received a spa facial, you'll know why cucumbers are a small miracle for the eyes. Just keep cucumbers stored in your refrigerator and slice off a couple pieces, allowing them to sit on your eyes for up to 20 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Make sure you're drinking enough water. When dehydrated, the appearance of dark eye circles is more dramatic, and your overall skin tone isn't great. However, increasing water consumption to a minimum of eight to 10 glasses each day will reduce the appearance of under-eye circles.

  5. Step 5

Check out organic wheat germ oil. This can be purchased from any organic foods store. Gently pat it on the under-eye area up to twice daily.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cut back on salty foods. Water retention can make under-eye circles worse, and salty foods can cause water retention.
  • Make sure you're consuming enough fruits and veggies. They play an important role in under-eye health. Incorporate oranges, grapefruit and other citrus fruits into your diet to improve the appearance of under-eye circles.
