How to Hand Wash a King Size Comforter
Hand washing a king size comforter may be the only method available to completely clean the bedding. Some comforters should only be hand washed, according to the instructions. A large capacity washing machine is not always available for others. Placing a king size comforter inside a smaller machine can damage the fabric as well as the washer. It is possible to clean large bedding material by hand. Cleaning the comforter once every two weeks is important, and any spills or soils should be cleaned immediately to protect the longevity of the comforter. Does this Spark an idea?

Locate an area with minimal foot traffic large enough to spread the king size comforter out flat.

Vacuum the area in Step 1 thoroughly. Remove any debris that might stick to moist fabric.

Unfold the king size comforter onto the floor. Spread out evenly with all corners flat on the surface.

Pour steaming water into a pan. Test the water to avoid burns. Dip the sponge into the pan. Squeeze the extra moisture out of the sponge.

Place a dab of laundry soap on the sponge. Blot the sponge together to create lather.

Press down with the sponge at the top of the comforter. Dab the fabric with the sponge across in rows. Wring the sponge out and apply additional soap as necessary.

Remove all soap from the sponge. Blot the king size comforter with water in rows covering the entire area. Wring out the sponge and obtain more water when required. Repeat the step twice.

Press down firmly with the towel in rows eliminating leftover dampness. Complete this step twice for the full area of the comforter.

Pick up the comforter, turn over and spread out. Repeat Steps 4 to 8 for the other side.

Hang on an outside rack or clothesline to air dry.

Tips & Warnings
Use a small amount of laundry soap. Too much will create uncontrollable foam. This is difficult to remove when set in. Blot the fabric and rub minimally.
