How to Remove Lipstick Stains
The right lipstick can make a woman not only look beautiful but feel beautiful as well. Unfortunately, lipstick has a tendency to smear and attach itself to clothing and any other fabric it comes in contact with. Even those so-called "smear-proof" lipsticks don't always stay put. Although cleaning a lipstick stain can be time-consuming and frustrating, it is possible to get the stain out, as long as you don't let it set for too long. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Washcloth
- Liquid stain remover
- Rubbing alcohol
- Cold water
- Washing machine
- Hair spray
- Dish soap

Dab at the lipstick stain with a washcloth to remove as much of the stain as possible. Do not rub. This will cause the stain to smear.

Rinse the stain with cold water. This will help to prevent the lipstick stain from setting.

Add a few drops of liquid stain remover directly to the stain and rub into a small lather. Allow to stand for a few minutes. If you do not have any liquid stain remover, hairspray or dish soap will work in a pinch.

Rinse away the liquid stain remover (or hairspray or dish soap) with cold water.

If the the liquid stain remover does not remove the lipstick in its entirety, apply a quarter-sized amount of rubbing alcohol to your washcloth and dab at any remaining lipstick stain.

Wash the lipstick-stained article in the washing machine if appropriate. Use a cold setting, and do not dry until the stain is removed.

Tips & Warnings
You can also substitute ammonia for rubbing alcohol if you prefer.
Do not use hot water when treating the lipstick stain. Heat will cause the stain to set.
