Make a Protein Filled Omelette

How to make a healthy protein filled omelette.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stove
  • Pan
  • Eggs
  • Egg whites
  • Ground turkey breast
  • Extra firm tofu
  • Shredded lowfat cheese
  1. Step 1

Start by melting a small amount of butter in a non-stick pan. (I use about a teaspoon). You can also use olive oil spray.

  2. Step 2

Once the butter is melted, place about 4 ounces of ground turkey breast along with 3 ounces of tofu chopped into small pieces in the pan. Season with salt and pepper, then cover. I sometimes add a small amount of cooking sherry to the turkey and tofu for flavor. Also, be sure to use ground turkey "breast" and not just ground turkey. Ground turkey breast has about 1.5 grams of fat per serving while ground turkey has 17.

  3. Step 3

After the turkey is cooked through, make sure the tofu is slightly brown. At this point add two eggs and 3 teaspoons of liquid egg whites. You can also add mushrooms, onions, or peppers if so desired.

  4. Step 4

Allow the mixture to cook for a few minutes, then add the shredded cheese of your choice. I use low fat mozzarella or cheddar.

Tips & Warnings
  • This omelette contains 60 grams of protein, 20 grams of fat, and 425 calories. Substitute the two eggs with another 3 teaspoons of liquid egg whites if on a low fat diet.
