Melting chocolate in the microwave is easier and faster than melting it in a pot over the stove. Follow these steps to create perfect melted chocolate using just your microwave!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • chocolate bar - milk or dark
  • spatula
  • microwave safe bowl
  • microwave
  1. Step 1

The first step is to find a microwave safe bowl. Ensure that the bowl is dry! Water can make the chocolate difficult to melt, so dry all of your tools very well.

  2. Step 2

Next, add your chocolate to the bowl. Break up the chocolate bar into small, even pieces to ensure that it melts evenly in the microwave.

  3. Step 3

Now, you can place your bowl of chocolate into the microwave. Typical heating times is one minute per ounce of chocolate. (3 oz = 3 minutes)

  4. Step 4

Now, to prevent your chocolate from burning or melting unevenly, check on your chocolate every 30 seconds. During these 30 second intervals, use your spatula and stir the chocolate. Continue to stir until the time has expired.

  5. Step 5

Once the time is up, remove your melted chocolate from the microwave carefully and stir it once more. Now you can enjoy your melted chocolate with your foods!

Tips & Warnings
  • Experiment with different types of chocolates for various deserts!
  • Some microwaves have different power settings, so check on your chocolate periodically
