Start a daily journal. Write down every day your daily expenses. As you will start to notice , there are a lot of things that you might do out of habit that can add up over time.

  2. Step 2

Pick a few things from your daily list of things you can change immediately. Can you go a couple days without coffee a week? Can you take the bus instead of driving to work? What about making dinner at home one more day? By changing one small aspect of your life on a daily basis, over time you can save a lot of money.

  3. Step 3

    Save money on entertainment.

If you go to movies a lot, thinking about renting movies. If you spend money on renting movies, look for alternative movie rentals at the library for free! You can even look for different things to do for entertainment like going to a park, taking up a hobby for free like running, etc.

  4. Step 4

    Save money on food.

If you're going out to eat a lot, pick one day a week to stay in and make dinner at home. Pack lunches for work instead of ordering lunch every day. Make a small adjustment by taking out or going to places where you dont have to leave a tip. Making one small adjustment over time will show you how to save money now.

Save money by paying your bills in FULL. Pay your credit card bill off each month as much as you can. While you're paying more up front, over time you'll save money with interest.

  6. Step 6

    Save money when buying clothes.

Buy what you need. If you must shop buy at alternative cheaper stores. Whether this is thrift stores, consignment shops, reselling stores, or just lower priced stores, overtime saving money on big purchases can add up over time.

  7. Step 7

Save money on the small things.

Look for ways to avoid atm fees. Join rewards programs like frequent flyer programs, grocery store clubs for buying in bulk, or programs at your favorite restaurant like TGI Fridays rewards programs.

  8. Step 8

    Watch what you save.

Each day keep track of how you saved money throughout the day. Seeing how the small amounts grow and add up over time can be encouraging. Watch how you save money and remember, be creative about new ways to save money in the futuer!
