Things You'll Need:
- a Twitter account
- a website or blog
-
Step 1
When you sign up for a Twitter account, make sure that you upload a picture and fill out your bio. You won't have any credibility at all on Twitter without these two things at bare minimum.
-
Step 2
Start using Twitter right away by posting tweets about yourself and your company, and make sure they're interesting. Do not post the same URL multiple times in a day. This is annoying to Twitterers.
-
Step 3
Follow other people and businesses on Twitter and retweet their tweets. If you don't retweet, you won't gain a Twitter following.
-
Step 4
Do not DM people on Twitter with spammy tweets to your URL or product line. When you DM people, they often get that tweet on their cell phone and a charge by their cell company is implemented. If you DM people, make sure it's for a real reason. The Twitter community gets super mad when they get direct messages for lame reasons (like spam).
-
Step 5
Check out what other people in your industry are tweeting about and keep an eye on your brand by searching Twitter often.
-
Step 6
Always reply to your @ replies on Twitter. If you're using Twitter for business, this is extremely important.
