Step 1
Take advantage of the humid summer months. The moisture in the air can actually make your curly hair look better, so use these months to give the blow dryer a rest. Curly hair looks best air dried, and its the bet way to fight frizz.
-
Step 2
The key to frizz free curly hair is minimal contact. Do not towel dry after washing. Wring water out of hair with your hands, and remove tangles by combing with a wide tooth comb. After this, no brushing and hands off. Use a lightweight shampoo and conditioner so you don't weigh the curls down.
-
Step 3
You want your curly hair to look soft and not crunchy from too many products. Try a non-sticky frizz fighting mousse such as John Frieda curly hair control mousse. Work a little through hair when it is still wet, shape the curls by forming them around your finger, and then air dry. Do not "scrunch" hair. The look is outdated and unnatural.
-
Step 4
After hair is half dry, apply a mist of a salt spray for hair, or a curl shaping spray, such as the one by John Frieda, whose products are inexpensive and good at controlling frizz without weighing hair down.
-
Step 5
Instead of leaving home with soaking wet hair while waiting for hair to air dry, give yourself a little extra time in the morning when the weather is good and take a walk around the block. Its a way to get some exercise while letting your hair air dry quickly.
