How to Rid your Vegetable Garden of Snails

Keep your vegetable garden snail free easily with this old family tip that is guaranteed to work every time. You work hard on your garden all season and do not want those little snail slugs sliming up your fresh vegetables. In two minutes your slogs be gone!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Empty Tuna Cans
  • 1 Can of Beer
  • A Vegetable Garden
  1. Step 1

First Gather up a few empty tuna tin cans that you have previously saved from those tuna sandwiches. Now, depending on how large your garden is you will need one tin can for every five square feet. The reason we use tuna cans is because once the snail or slug climbs over the edge it can't get out.

  2. Step 2

Now, with the clean tuna tin cans, place them face up around the border and also within the rows of your garden at various places. About one tin tuna can per 5 square feet should be fine.

  3. Step 3

Next, pop open the can of beer. Test beer to make sure it tastes good. Now, poor about one half inch of beer in each of the empty tuna tin cans. That's it, your beer snail trap is set.

  4. Step 4

Each morning, check your slug trap. Remove unwanted snails and or slugs buy discarding contents into trash. Refill with more beer as in step above. You now have rid your vegetable garden free of snails.

Tips & Warnings
  • After rain, empty and refill with more beer.
  • Dispose of slugs or snails anywhere but your garden area and refill with more beer.
  • Please check the age laws in your state before drinking/tasting the beer
