Cleaning an oven is a tough job. By the time most people realize the oven needs to be cleaned, it's usually a mess. Cleaning an oven is difficult because there is usually a variety of baked on food and grease spatter. Oven cleaning is a back breaking job especially f you don't or can't use commercial oven cleaners. Commercial oven cleaners should never be used on a self cleaning oven. Does this Spark an idea?

      To easily clean your oven, preheat your oven to 200 degrees. When your oven reaches 200 degrees shut it off.

      Use an oven safe glass bowl such as Corningware or Pyrex. Put 1 cup of household, non-sudsing ammonia, in the oven safe bowl on the middle rack. Close the oven door and let the bowl of ammonia sit in your oven overnight.

      In the morning open the oven door. Be careful not to inhale the fumes and make sure your kitchen is well ventilated. Let the door stay open for 20 to 30 minutes. Remove the bowl of ammonia and dispose of it.

      Use a wet sponge, clean wet rag or wet paper towels to wipe down the entire inside of your oven. Be sure to rinse sponge, rag or change paper towels often because if you don't you will end up spreading the grease around rather than cleaning it off.
