Aerobic exercise at home is also a great way to start an exercise routine. When people haven't worked out in a while and are out of shape it's intimidating to exercise in front of others. So, working out at home is a perfect way to begin. Then later after confidence is built take a class or join a gym.

Frequency should be 3-5 days a week, duration 20-60 minutes and intensity is how hard you work, which depends on fitness level and age. Most newbies start out 3 days a week at 20 minutes a session and build intensity over time. Also, a heart rate monitor is a worthwhile investment if you want to keep track of progress and hit your maximum heart rate.
One of the best ways to do aerobics at home is to use a stationary bike or treadmill. Cycling and walking are very popular and easy, there is no learning curve. All you need is equipment, which you can purchase used at a good price. My bike was only $40 and I've used it every day for five years.

One way to do this is to read reviews on Amazon on various aerobic videos. Don't just choose one because it's popular or a top seller.
Mini trampolines are also used for aerobic exercise at home. One good thing about this is if you have kids they will enjoy it too. I use one and love it, all that's needed is upbeat music. Additionally, you can make up your own exercises, watch videos on youtube or buy your own videos.

It's important to keep your workout a priority. Just because you do aerobic exercise at home doesn't mean it's less important. The best way to do this is to schedule it when others are not home, so that there are no interruptions. Morning tends to be better than evening.
Finally, you will do exercise faithfully if you enjoy it. Also, many people like to have a partner for moral support and motivation. Keep a positive attitude and have realistic goals, keep in mind it takes time to see results.
