Things You'll Need:
- eBay account
- Internet
- An Auction or a Bid
-
Step 1
Rules for Retracting a Bid as a Buyer - According to eBay a buyer can retract a bid if you have a valid reason for doing so as defined by eBay policy and you retract the bid within the required time period. What this means is that they do let users retract bids but it is frowned upon. The criteria would be that you made a typo during the bidding process, the seller is unreachable or the description of the item for sale has changed significantly.
-
Step 2
Retracting a Bid as a Buyer - Press the Cancel Bid button on the item that is being auctioned. This should direct you to a form provided by eBay that will need to be filled out. Once this is filled out it will be sent to an eBay employee that will review the reason and judge if the reason is a valid one.
-
Step 3
Rules for Canceling a Bid as a Seller - The seller can cancel a persons bid if it does not fall in the time line of the auction, if the seller's identity is questionable or if the item has already been sold or not for sale.
-
Step 4
Canceling a Bid as a Seller - To cancel a bid you should press the Cancel Bid button on the item that is being auctioned. The rest of this step is exactly like step 2.
