Painting brick is the same as any other surface only you need a particular type of paint for that surface. You also have to be sure it is exterior paint as well.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Masonry Paint
  • Painter's tape
  • Paint roller
  1. Step 1

Be sure to clean any brick surface that is to be painted. Washing it with a pressure washer is always good if it is an exterior surface. Make sure all of it is dry after washing before painting.

  2. Step 2

Mask off any area you don't want painted with painters tape. The more time and care you take to prepare will always make for a cleaner and more precise job.

  3. Step 3

Use a thicker nap paint roller. 1" Nap is usually good. This allows the paint to be absorbed into a more porous surface like brick. If you want to paint without getting any paint on the grout use a paint brush.

  4. Step 4

Buy masonry exterior paint in the color of your choice. You can find this type of paint at any major hardware store.
