Acne is now becoming stronger. Some acne is becoming resistant to traditional treatment and is called super acne. If you have been treated for acne and are not getting better, then you may have super acne. Treating acne often requires a series of steps. If you are looking for an acne solution, consider these tips.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Exfoliate skin at least three times weekly to encourage cell turnover.Have a cleansing facial at least once per month to remove any existing bacterial buildup. Be sure to have extractions performed during facials. Glycolic peels and micordermabrasion will also encourage cell rejuvenation. Laser and pulse light treatments might also contribute to a reduction in super acne. Use a acne clear free skin treatment to help eliminate body acne as well.

  2. Step 2

Use benzol peroxide and salicylic acid to treat acne. These products kill bacteria that can cause acne. Prescription topical ointments, steroids, and retinoids are all useful for super acne treatment. Retinoids include Differin, Retin-A, Accutane, Tazorac and Azelec. Apply acne treatment at least twice per day after skin cleansing.

  3. Step 3

Try a home remedy for acne such as Castor oil. Use this treatment before going to bed. Steam your skin to open the pores before applying the oil. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and remove from the stove. Put on a secure surface and put your face about 12 inches or more above the pot with a towel covering your head to trap the steam. Allow to steam for 2 to 5 minutes. Wash face with antibacterial soap and rinse with warm water. Apply a small amount of Castor oil to the face to coat the skin.Leave overnight and wash off upon waking.

  4. Step 4

Change your pillowcase and bedding often to avoid contaminating any sleeping surfaces with acne causing bacteria. In addition, use hot water to wash all towels, washcloths and body scrubbers that may come into contact with super acne. Wear breathable fabrics if acne is not confined to the face. Avoid hats, gels, and other hair products that may contribute to acne. Body acne treatments might also include using topical ointments before going to bed.

  5. Step 5

Apply prescription antibiotics such as Novacet, Stqaticin, Cleocin and Eryderm. These topical ointments kill bacteria that live on the skin and contribute to acne. Some resistant super acne may require combination treatments that include Clindoxyl, Stievamycin and Benzamycin. These treatments combine retinoids with anti-bacterials to increase acne killing effects. Consider using birth control as a treatment method as well. Use acne medications according to your doctors instructions.

  6. Step 6

Use acne antibiotics only if other treatment methods have failed and only for short term so you do not develop a resistance. Common antibiotics that are used for acne treatment are erthromycin, tetracycline, and doxycycline. They are most effective when used in combination with topical treatments.Do not take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. Taking antibiotics contributes to acne becoming resistant because the bacteria that survive the medications mutate and become stronger.
