How to Make a Kid's Chef Hat thumbnail
Help your child feel like a real chef by making him his own chef's hat.

If your child has expressed interest in the kitchen, you can encourage the development of your little chef with simple gestures. Either have your child help you or you can surprise him by making him his very own chef's hat. Not only will this show your child that you support his passion, but it will make him feel even more like a real chef when he takes over the kitchen.

Things You'll Need

  • White poster board
  • White paper bag
  • Tape

Instructions

    • 1

      Measure the poster board around your child's head. Cut a strip that is 2 inches longer than the circumference of your child's head and 2 to 3 inches wide.

      Turn a white paper bag inside-out. Stand the bag upside down so the opening becomes the bottom of the bag.

      Wrap the poster board into a loop so the ends overlap about 2 inches. Tape the ends together. Place the paper bag over the band so the opening of the band covers about half of the band's width. Tape the bag in place.

      Turn the bag right-side in, turning the poster board band along with it.

      Crumple up the bag so it looks less like a stiff paper bag. The poster board band is the band of the hat and the paper bag is the floppy top of your child's new chef hat.
