Making a stethoscope for kids is an inexpensive and fun way to have your kids learn about how the heart works. This could be a great activity when the kids are not able to go out due to a rainy day.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • plastic tubing
  • funnel
  1. Step 1

Fit the funnel into one of the ends of the plastic tubing. If you are buying these items together, it is a good idea to make sure they snug tightly together.

  2. Step 2

Have an adult carefully cut the plastic tubing to about 2 feet in length. This can be done before putting the funnel inside the tubing.

  3. Step 3

Have your child do a few jumping jacks or run around a bit to get their heart pumping.

  4. Step 4

Place the funnel end onto the child's chest and the plastic tubing carefully to their ear and they should be able to hear their very own heartbeat.

  5. Step 5

Have your child listen to your heartbeat as well and ask him/her if your heart is beating fast or slow.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can add a smaller funnel on the open end of the tubing for even safer play.
