    Decide the essential massage oils that you will be using in your massage oil candle. You can choose from a large variety including:
    * Apricot kernel oil
    * Olive oil
    * Sunflower oil
    * Sandalwood oil
    * Champaca oil
    * Sweet almond oil
    * Jojoba oil
    * Beeswax

  2. Step 2

    Heat water in the large metal pan and reduce to a simmer.

  3. Step 3

    Measure the quantities carefully and add the soy wax, essential oils, and body butter to the small metal pan.

  4. Step 4

    Place in the simmering water, being careful not to overheat the wax and oils. This process will take time so be patient. Do not stir the wax and oils as it will create air bubbles which lead to gaps in your massage oil candle.

  6. Step 6

    Cool the massage oil candle completely, till it hardens. This will take at least 8 hours.

  7. Step 7

    Burn the candle by trimming the candle wick to 1/4 inch.

    Use your homemade massage oil candle by burning the candle till you notice a pool of melted wax around the wick.

    If using a small quantity to massage your hands, blow out the candle at this point, allow the wax to cool for a minute, and pour into your palms to massage.

    If using the massage oil candle to massage your body, allow the candle to melt completely, let it cool a bit and use.

Tips & Warnings
  • If not using the body butter (cocoa butter or shea butter), increase the soy wax to 6 oz.
  • You can use a microwave-safe glass bowl to melt the wax and essential oils.
  • To get maximum benefit of massage therapy, use the wax from your massage oil candle while it is still warm.
  • Allow leftover wax to solidify and melt again to re-use.
  • Massage oil candles are colorless since the melted wax is rubbed on the skin and color is not recommended for massage therapy products.
