A credit report tells someone their FICO score. To receive a credit report you can use a few different services. FreeCreditReport.com offers a free credit report with a subscription to their services but AnnualCreditReport.com and directly from the 3 credit bureaus are the only FREE source to receive a credit report.

Things You'll Need:

  • Personal information (name, SS#, Credit Card #, etc...)
  • Internet
  1. Step 1

    To check your credit report go to the following website the Annual Credit Report website listed below this article. This is the official site to help consumers to obtain their free credit report. You are entitled to receive one free credit report every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies and this site will let you access all of them.

  2. Step 2

    If you do not want to use that site you can obtain free copy their credit report every year from each of the three major credit bureaus which are Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

  3. Step 3

    If you have any questions about your legal rights, please consult the Fair Credit Reporting Act (ftc.gov/os/statutes/fcra.htm).

Tips & Warnings
  • The credit report is only free if you cancel it within 7 days.
  • A good way to get a free annual credit report is by going through AnnualCreditReport.com
  • The gov't allows you to get a free credit report from each of the 3 credit bureaus which are equifax, transunion, and experian.
