You should continue to purchase A&W's wonderful root beer, but you should also learn how to produce a similar taste at home as well. Follow these directions to make a homemade A&W Root Beer. Things You'll Need
- 3/4 c sugar
- 3/4 c hot water
- 1 litre of cold seltzer water
- 3/4 t root beer concentrate
- 1/4 t of vanilla extract

The first step you will take in making yor homemade A&W Root Beer, is to grab the sugar and dissolve it in the hot water. Make sure that the sugar has completely dissolved before moving on to the next step.

Next, you will need to add the root beer concnetrate and the vanilla extract* to the disolved sugar-water mixture and let it cool down.
*In addition to the barrel style root beer that we all know and love, A&W also makes a cream soda that makes full use of the vanilla flavor. A lot of root beer recipes do not call for the use of vanilla extract, but I use it in this recipe because it adds a sweet, creamy flavor to the root beer.
