You can use family photo's, vacation photo's or school photo's to make an amazing quilt. A wedding quilt is also a nice gift for newly weds. The quilt you make will be a fabulous piece. It can be about old memories or new ones.

      Take new photo's with a ditigal cameral and download them to your computer. If you already have your pictures on your computer skip this . Pick out the photo's you wish to copy for the quilt. Travel photo's will remind of fun trips taken. School sports photo's are reat for children or teens. Make a new born baby quilt for the proud parents. A newly -wed photo quilt makes a wonderful gift for the bride and groom.

      With your printer or scanner put the photo's onto the photo fabric. Directions are included with the fabric. This fabric is sold in craft stores. You will want each photo to fit be a 9 inch square. Or you can make smaller photo's and put them together make a collage effect.

      Using other fabric's solid's or print's cut out more 9 inch squares. You will be alternating a photo square and a one of the regular squares. This will make a 9 patch quilt. Pin 9 squares across and 9 squares down. Sew these together with your sewing machine. Make the seams 1/4 inch and press out the seams with your fingers to lay down flat.

      Cut out a backing fabric to fit your photo quilt out of solid cotton,demin or flannel fabric. Pin the backing to the front leaving a slit to turn it to inside out. Sew around the edges all the way around closing up the slit. Tack it down with tabestry needlethreaded with yarn or ribbon in the square corner seams .You can even make the quilt more decorative by adding ribbons bows or small charms sewn on.

Tips & Warnings

  • Black and white photo's give a different old fashioned look

  • Recycle demin pants or other clothes for squares

  • Use batting or a blanket in the middle if you want more warmth

  • Buy theme type fabric's such as football,soccer,baseball,nursery,nascar,nature or flowers

  • Be careful when sewing not to prick your finger
