How to Use Winmx

Ever since the inception of Napster, peer-to-peer sharing has revolutionized the way music and media can be shared and transferred across the globe. Although many such programs have risen and fallen, WinMX is one that has stood the test of time. With WinMX, the user has the option to download music, video, programs, images and documents. The program is free, and learning to use it takes little time.

  • WinMX 4.7.1

    How to Use WinMX

  1. Step 1
     

    Select the location where you want downloads to be saved during the WinMX setup wizard. Click Next.

  2. Step 2
     

    Choose your Internet connection speed and click Next. Make sure that WinMX is unblocked from your firewall so it is able to perform optimally. Click Unblock when the firewall window pops up.

  3. Step 3

    Choose whether you want WinMX to scan your computer's hard drive for existing media files to import. Click Next, then Finish to exit the setup wizard.

  4. Step 4
     

    Type in the name of the media file into the search bar that you want to download. Press Enter to initiate the search.

  5. Step 5

    Double-click the file to begin downloading. Click Monitor in the main menu to view your download status.

  6. Step 6
     

    Click Library in the main menu to view and/or listen to your completed downloads and imported media.

Tips & Warnings
  • Connections can be set under the File menu on the top tool bar. Click Tools, then Options to set the preferences. Skins can be set and applied under the View menu. Search, Library, and Monitor can also be accessed by clicking Navigation on the top tool bar.
  • Make sure you are not downloading copyrighted material.
