How to Use a Boss GT-8 Processor

The Boss GT-8 is one of the most advanced effects pedals on the market today. With the ability to use two amps with this pedal and its array of different effects, the combinations of sounds are endless. By editing the preset factory patches, you can be on your way to guitar nirvana.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the cable from your guitar into the jack labeled INPUT on the back of the GT-8.

    • 2

Make sure the amp is off, then plug a cable into the LEFT(MONO) output on the GT-8 into the INPUT of the amp. With the volume all the way down, turn on your amp.

    • 3

Increase the volume of your amp slowly, while picking the strings until you hear it through your amp. Adjust the volume at that point.

    • 4

Use the BANK UP and DOWN foot switches to change the current patch. Each patch uses a different modeling parameter to give you various replications of popular guitar amp sounds. Find one that is closest to the sound that you like.

    • 5

Use the effects parameters knobs to adjust the various effects on the patch you have chosen. You can increase or decrease the gain, add more delay and change the pitch. Repeat with other patches, then use the WRITE key to save your changes and name your patch.

    • 6

Continue to adjust and create new patches. Experiment with the many different parameter knobs and gain knobs to create new and unique sounds for your music experimentation.

Tips & Warnings

  • If some sounds are weak, adjust the pedals overall gain until you have the correct amount of signal going to your amp. Try hooking up two amps to the GT-8 and use two separate patches to get an interesting stereo sound.

  • Do not play on high volumes for an extended amount of time: it can damage your hearing.
