FireWire is a powerful port inside of a computer and other devices (such as external hard drives and video cameras) that allow the exchange of data at a fast rate. However, not all computers are equipped with FireWire ports, but most, if not all new computers have at least one USB drive. Because of this, it is sometimes necessary to connect a FireWire cable into a USB drive in order to use the external devices.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Firewire cable

  1. Step 1

Attach the FireWire cable to the external device.

  2. Step 2

Fit the FireWire-to-USB adapter over the free, exposed end of the cable. A link provided in the Resources section leads to a website that sells these adapters.

  3. Step 3

Plug the the end of the cable with the USB adapter over it into the USB port of the computer.
