How to Chat With More Than 2 People

Instant messaging programs allow you to send (and receive) instant chat messages to family and friends all over the world. Instant messenger programs such as Gmail chat and Yahoo Messenger support group or conference chats, which allow you to chat with more than two people at a time. This simple process allows you to invite who you want to the group and allows everyone to speak to each other in the same window.

Instructions

    Yahoo Messenger

  1. Step 1

    Launch Yahoo Messenger and log in using your user name and password.

  2. Step 2

    Click the "Actions" button on the top menu and click "Invite to Conference." This will open the conference invite window.

  3. Step 3

    Click the friends you want to have a conference with and click "Add" to place them on the invite list. Click "Invite" to start a conference and begin chatting with more than two people.

  4. Gmail

  5. Step 1

    Sign into your Gmail account using your user name and password.

  6. Step 2

    Double click a person on your contact list to begin chatting with them. When the chat has began, click the "Options" button on the lower left of the chat window.

  7. Step 3

    Select "Group Chat" on the options window and enter the names of the people you want to add to the chat in the "Add a person to this chat" window. This will allow you to chat with more than two people.
