How to Paint a CO2 Dragster

A CO2 dragster is a small wooden model car with an opening cut into the back to hold a CO2 cartridge. The CO2 cartridge is used to propel the car forward during a race. These dragsters are often designed and built by students from balsa wood. A saw is used to shave away pieces of wood until the desired shape of the dragster is achieved. The dragster can then by painted and decorated to add a personal touch before the race.

Things You'll Need

• Sandpaper
• Sanding Sealer
• Paint
• Paintbrush
• Auto Wax
• Rag

Instructions

1. Sand any rough or jagged edges with sandpaper until smooth.

2. Apply a coat of sanding sealer to the dragster and allow it to dry. Repeat this application twice to create three coats of sanding sealer.

3. Paint the car with craft paint. Allow the paint to dry and then apply a second coat of paint.

4. Paint any desired details on the car once the base paint has dried. This is the time to add racing stripes or flames to decorate the dragster. Allow the paint to dry completely.

5. Rub a layer of auto wax onto the dragster and buff it with a rag. This will give the dragster a glossy and finished appearance.
