How to Make Money When You Have No Job

Whether you are a victim of a plummeting economy or have voluntarily left one job without having another lined up, you need money. As days go by without a paycheck in sight, panic and fear can set in, but don't despair. With a little creativity, a good attitude and a little bit of humility, you may still make money while you're in between employers.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean out your house and utilize websites such as eBay or Craigslist to sell unwanted goods. Alternatively, place an ad in a trader-type magazine or in your local newspaper's classified ads. Some publications make placement of an ad free under specified conditions. Inquire about such special offers.

    • 2

Conduct a garage sale or yard sale, and ask neighbors to participate. Joining forces will create a larger collection of items for sale, which will lure more people to the sale.

    • 3

Rent out one room or more. College students and young singles are always looking for places to stay.

    • 4

Try temporary work. Employment agencies can help you find work, but they can also put you in short-term work while you are waiting. They typically pay weekly, but they sometimes pay more often.

    • 5

Do contract work. If you are an unemployed professional, try selling your services or knowledge. Talk to people you know, and consider placing ads or creating fliers.

    • 6

Try the local day laborer post. Many cities have a place where contactors come and pick up anyone standing for a day of work. Some pay cash daily.

    • 7

Do odd jobs. Work that falls under this category includes babysitting, lawn mowing, car washing, house cleaning and running errands.

    • 8

Exhaust all possibilities: Take surveys, sell blood and/or plasma or collect aluminum cans.
