Keep Birds Away from Fruit and Berries

Birds are gorgeous in the wild. However, when it comes to berries and fruit, birds are a pure pest. Protect your harvest by using these tips to keep birds away from fruit and berries!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Decoy Fruit
  • Cat
  • Stuffed Animal
  • Bird Feeder
  • Bird Seed
  1. Step 1

Set out a decoy fruit. So this by setting them away from the ones you plan to harvest. Birds love mulberries, so set out mulberry bushes out away from the others.

  2. Step 2

Put out bird feeders with bird seed. If the birds fill up on seed, they will be less likely to eat your fruit and berries.

  3. Step 3

Get an outdoor cat. If it bothers you that a cat will eat birds, place a bell around the cats neck so any birds will be warned to move it.

  4. Step 4

Put a stuffed animal in the trees, bushes or vines. Move it often, tricking the birds into thinking they are real.

  5. Step 5

For grapes that are close to picking time, you can place a paper bag over them for protection. Cut slits in the bag for ventilation.
