Step 1
A BackpackPACK LIGHT
The number 1 rule to this type of excursion is to pack light. I cannot stress this enough! If you over pack and bring 4 suitcases and you plan to take trains and stay in hostels, it will not work out for you. Try to pack one week worth of clothes into your backpack and thats it. -
Step 2
PassportKEEP YOUR PASSPORT/VISA SAFE
IF you loose these or they are stolen you are in for a horrible surprise. It will take some time to goto your local US embassy and provide proof you are who you say you are. Be smart, take a lock with you and lock up your backpack. Put your valuable paper work into a lock box or locker, which all hostels and hotels will have for you. -
Step 3
Europe in its GloryMINGLE WITH THE LOCAL POPULATION
You are in a foreign country! Go to the local pup talk to the local people, find good people to hang out with. You will be surprised as to how many cool off the beaten track places you will find once you hook up with a local. If you hear about an absolutely awesome church on a hill 20 miles out side of town, then why not hop on a scooter and go check it out. After all you are in Europe, everywhere you look is beautiful and full of history. -
Step 4
Euro Train StationsGO WHERE EVER YOU WANT, SEE WHAT EVER YOU WANT!
You are the backpacker! Be one with your Travels. If you are with some people and they are going some where that sounds exciting do it! Go with them! If you find your self at a train station looking up at the board wondering where to go next, you are backpacking like a true pro!
