How to Use BlackBerry Desktop Software to Back Up My Phone
It is important to back up your BlackBerry on a regular basis. You can easily restore your BlackBerry, and the data it held, if you have a backup file saved to your computer via the BlackBerry Desktop Software.

Open your BlackBerry Desktop Software on your computer. If you don't have it, install it quickly with the CD that was provided with the phone or by downloading it from BlackBerry.com

Connect your BlackBerry device to your computer using the USB cable that came with your phone. Make sure the Desktop Software is showing your phone's PIN number and "Device Connected" at the bottom left of the screen.

Choose the "Back Up and Restore" option. Select "Back Up" and choose a place to save the file. You should then see "Transfer in Progress" as it backs the BlackBerry up. Once this screen disappears your phone's data is backed up to the file you saved it as.

Use the same steps above if you need to restore your information at a later time. Instead of choosing the back up option, select the "Restore" option and follow the steps.

Try to back up your BlackBerry at least one time per month. You won't regret it if you ever lose your information.
