Instructions

    • 1

Remove the strawberry leaves and grape stems and wash the fruit in cold running water. Once rinsed, arrange the fruit in a single layer and allow them to dry completely.

    • 2

Slice the pineapple into round slices that are approximately 1/2 inch thick. Press the cookie cutter into the center of each pineapple slice, cutting out the shape. The rind should not be present on the final shape. If the fruit bouquet is for a gift or party, use cookie cutters shapes that match that theme. For example, you might use flowers for a baby shower and stars for an Independence Day party.

    • 3

Scoop out balls of melon with the melon baller. To do this, gently scoop the utensil along the inside of the melon; the motion is similar to scooping ice cream.

    • 4

Skewer the fruits by sliding them onto the wooden skewers. When creating the skewers, use your creativity and originality. Fill several skewers with grapes or alternate grapes and melon balls. If your pineapples are cut into flowers, use green grapes to make a stem and slide the pineapple onto the top of the skewer. Affix strawberries to the tops of the wooden sticks. Whichever designs you choose, make sure the fruit only goes half-way down the skewer so that the wooden skewer does not poke out through the top fruit.

    • 5

Place the floral foam inside the container. You will be poking the wooden skewers into the foam, so make sure it fits securely inside the container. If floral foam is unavailable, use a sturdy piece of clay or play-dough.

    • 6

Arrange each fruit skewer in the container by poking it into the floral foam. Place the skewers into the foam at various angles to allow for a fuller bouquet. Use the scissors to cut the skewers to size. While some skewers will remain full-sized, you might cut others to fill in the bouquet.

    • 7

Poke the twigs of parsley in between the skewers to provide a lush green foundation for the bouquet. Use the parsley to hide the wooden sticks and fill in any gaps.

Tips & Warnings

  • If desired, you can dip some of the fruits in melted chocolate before skewering them. Although you can use any fruit you desire, the most common chocolate-covered fruits include strawberries and pineapples. Allow the chocolate to harden completely on the fruit before attempting to skewer it.
